I've always liked drinks with character. Whiskey, tequila, Guinness. Ginger with a proper kick. Flavours that don't disappear after the first sip.
After 40, I found myself wanting less and less sugar. Sweet drinks. Sweet food. It just wasn't doing it for me anymore.
I'd started having apple cider vinegar before dinner, sometimes after. I've always been a big ginger person. The fiercer the better.
At the same time, I was drinking less alcohol, but I really missed the ritual of a proper drink at the end of the day. The ice. The glass. The flavour. That moment that says the day is done.
And I didn't want something sweet or something pretending to be gin.
I wanted flavour. Tartness. Heat. A full mouthfeel. Something that lingered.
So I started messing around in my kitchen.
Real ginger. New Zealand Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother. A little New Zealand beechwood honey. Cayenne. Kawakawa. Himalayan pink salt.
Eventually, Stormee hit the spot.
